Who we are

Lulochan provides an AI assisted Japanese learning service through lulochan.com and app.lulochan.com. This policy explains how Lulochan collects and handles personal information. Questions may be sent to support@lulochan.com.

Information we collect

• Account information, including your email, password, name, profile image, and verification status.
• Learning preferences and activity, including goals, language settings, conversations, transcripts, lessons, answers, corrections, study lists, mastery data, and progress.
• Anonymous visitor and analytics data, including a visitor identifier, session identifier, IP address, pages and articles viewed, task activity, CTA interactions, attribution data, language, and device type.
• Content you upload, including images and associated filenames, file information, and AI generated descriptions.
• Subscription information, including your plan, subscription status, renewal dates, and payment processor identifiers. Lulochan does not receive or store your full payment card details.

Voice practice

During live voice practice, microphone audio is streamed to our AI provider for real time transcription and evaluation. Lulochan does not intentionally store the raw microphone audio, but the resulting transcripts, tutor responses, and learning evaluations may be saved as part of your learning history.

How we use information

We use information to provide and personalize the service, generate conversations and lessons, evaluate exercises, track learning progress, authenticate accounts, process subscriptions, provide support, send account communications, understand product performance, prevent abuse, maintain security, and comply with legal obligations.

Service providers

We use providers that process information only as needed to operate Lulochan:

• OpenAI for AI conversations, lesson generation, image analysis, speech, and voice processing.
• ElevenLabs for generated tutor voice output.
• Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record and subscription payment processor.
• Resend for transactional email.
• AWS for application hosting, databases, and file storage.
• Cloudflare for delivery, DNS, and security services.
• Sentry for error monitoring, diagnostics, and service reliability.

We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies and browser storage for authentication, security, language preferences, anonymous visitor identity, analytics sessions, task drafts, and other settings needed to operate the service. You can remove browser storage through your browser, but doing so may sign you out or reset saved preferences.

Retention and security

We retain information while your account is active and as reasonably needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. Some records may remain in backups or legally required billing records after account closure. We use reasonable safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your information, or object to certain processing. Contact support@lulochan.com to make a request. We may need to verify your identity before completing it.

Children

Lulochan is not intended for children under 13. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use the service only with permission from a parent or legal guardian.

International processing

Lulochan and its providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate legal mechanisms for those transfers.
